Someone sent me a picture from the internet a few months ago it was a group of about (10) $100 bills in different stages of how they were first produced, from the “Big Faces” to the new $100 bill that is in circulation right now. Below the picture read, “Everyone talks about don’t change or switch up and keep it 100”. Not realizing that even 100’s change.
I don’t know what will be written about me in the book of life, but no matter what it says, one thing is for sure…it will not say that I remained the same or stood still, even after being incarcerated for 12 years. I have made some drastic changes in my life, got my degree, changed my criminal way of thinking and my behaviors that were negatively affecting my life.
I am not sure if I should say that something old in me has died or that something new in me has been born. I’ve even affected changes in the lives of people around me on my journey.
Should I celebrate the ending of a long and dreadful chapter or the beginning of a new and fruitful book? Regardless of what is said about me, there is going to be a difference of opinion. Some will say that I’ve matured from a 16 year old convicted felon to a 28 year old man, that I have become more. Which means that some will say that I have not changed at all, or in fact I have became less. I am sure that people will say that I have found my way, that I came up. Others will think that I got lost, that I fell off.
The people that matter the most to me will say I found new meaning and purpose for my life. My ex-homeboys will say that I simply turned my back on something I pledged my allegiance to, something I was supposed to remain committed to 4 life, and until death. I am sure that my family and friends will say I am now kind, considering and caring. Which means the haters will say that I am simply becoming weak and soft hearted, and if they are, then I know I am doing something right.
With all this said, I am just looking for a friend to keep it 100 with, life is unpredictable, and this world is constantly changing. Don’t hesitate to drop me a line, all new friends are welcome.
