To whom it may concern, I want to take a moment to express myself. It’s difficult to do this through a limited number of words, especially when you can’t hear my voice. Some things are best conveyed face-to-face or at least through verbal communication. So, as awkward as this feels, let me introduce myself. My name is Isiah Cavitt, pronounced I-Si-Uh. I’m African American and Polynesian, and because of that, I place a strong emphasis on family, community, and cultural connection. In 2024, I graduated with an associate’s degree in business science, completed a vocational program, and started two peer-to-peer facilitated programs. At 28, and after a heartbreak, I think I’ve truly learned the value of a woman. I spent my younger years unaware of the everyday world most civilians experience, and I’m genuinely trying to understand what “normal” looks like. That’s part of why I’m here. Trust me, I know none of this is traditional; I’m uncomfortable sharing my thoughts on a website. But someone once told me, “If you can’t find yourself in the midst of greatness, do small things in a great way.” That’s what I’m doing now, advocating for myself and placing value not on my current reality, but on the future I’m building.
